Several militants killed in Marib clashes

MARIB, May 07 (YPA) – Several coalition-backed armed militants were killed and wounded in armed clashes with the Obaida tribes in Thaniya area of the Islah party-held Marib city.

Sources affirmed that the Islah authorities sent dozens of personnel on military vehicles to Jabal al-Jahili, east of the Thaniya area on Tuesday to stop tribesmen from extracting stones from mountains.

The sources explained that the tribes from Al Rashid Maneef and Al Jalal confronted the campaign, destroying a number of military vehicles and capturing a number of recruits.

Tribal activists circulated confessions from captured recruits, claiming that the leaders of the coalition-affiliated factions had led them to believe they were on a heroic task to fight the so-called “Houthis,” but they were surprised they were actually fighting the people of Marib.
