SANAA, May 05 (YPA) – A Syrian citizen was killed, on Monday, as a result of the explosion of a landmine left over from the war while grazing livestock in the Khan Arnabeh area in the Quneitra countryside, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
This incident comes as part of a continuous series of civilian casualties caused by explosive devices spread across large areas of Syrian territory, bringing the total death toll since the beginning of this year to 793 people, between dead and wounded.
According to the Observatory’s documentation, the number of civilian martyrs who died due to the remnants of war reached 386 people, including 90 children and 24 women, while the number of wounded reached 407, including 166 children and 9 women.
The Observatory warns that remnants of war still pose a constant threat to the lives of civilians, especially in areas to which displaced persons have returned after their destruction, or those that were the scene of military operations, pointing out that last December alone witnessed the martyrdom of 86 civilians, including 14 children and 8 women, in addition to 119 others being injured with varying degrees of severity.
