HADRAMOUT, May 04 (YPA) – The Hadramout Inclusive Conference announced, on Sunday, its solidarity with all contractors at Ibn Sina Hospital Authority who are demanding their fair employment and financial rights.
In a statement, the conference said, “This irresponsible behavior is not befitting of a service institution that is supposed to be an example of respect for human beings and the preservation of their dignity.”
It expressed its absolute rejection of the language of threats and repression, which cannot be a solution to just and legitimate demands, stressing that they further complicate the crisis and reflect a dangerous decline in management methods and the handling of human rights demands.
It also stressed that the threats and arbitrary dismissal of the contractors at the hospital during their peaceful protest to demand their legitimate rights, as well as the prevention of the media from covering their activities even outside the hospital walls, constitute a blatant disregard for freedom of expression, a violation of the worker’s rights, and a denial of their voices.
The statement, a copy of which was obtained by the agency, called on the authority’s management to sit down with representatives of the contractors for a serious dialogue without preconditions or threatening language.
It also called on the local authority to intervene urgently and resolve the contractors’ problems to ensure the stability of health services in Hadramout.
The statement condemned the harassment of media professionals and activists during their peaceful coverage, and called for an investigation into this and for those responsible to be held accountable.
It also pointed out that contracted doctors are an essential part of the health system, and ensuring their fairness is the primary guarantee for the continuity of health services.
