MARIB, April 27 (YPA) – Three people were killed on Saturday in an unidentified airstrike targeting their car in the coalition-controlled city of Marib in eastern Yemen.
Local sources said that an unknown airstrike, believed to be American, targeted the car carrying three people in the Al-Thakmin area of Al-Khashaa, Hadramout province, east of Marib. The airstrike destroyed the car and charred the bodies.
The sources believed the killed were members of Al-Qaeda, who were on their way to the pro-coalition Islah party-run city of Marib.
Other sources reported that three members of the family of Sultan al-Arada, a member of the Saudi-formed Presidential Leadership Council and Marib governor, were killed in the airstrike that targeted the car in the al-Khasha’a area.
Human rights activists circulated news on social media that Saudi authorities arrested Islah-affiliated governor al-Arada in Riyadh.
This came amid widespread calls for Saudi Arabia to release al-Arada, with no immediate comment from the Leadership Council or the coalition-affiliated Aden government.
