Armed clashes renewed between India, Pakistan

NEW DELIHI, April 26 (YPA) – The Indian army announced on Saturday that its forces exchanged fire with Pakistani forces overnight along the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border between India and Pakistan in Kashmir, following incidents the previous day.

The Indian army stated that several Pakistani army posts initiated “unprovoked” small arms fire “along the LoC in Kashmir.”

The army explained in a statement that Indian forces responded appropriately, also using small arms, and noted that the firing did not result in any casualties.

Tensions between India and Pakistan, two nuclear-armed states and allies of the United States, have escalated following a deadly attack on Tuesday in Indian-administered Kashmir.

New Delhi accuses its neighbor of being behind the attack, which killed 26 people in Pahalgam.

In recent days, the two countries have been embroiled in a cycle of punitive and retaliatory measures.
