US official: USS Harry S. Truman will leave Middle East region soon

WORLD, April 24 (YPA) -The US Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman will soon depart the Middle East region, the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera television network reported, citing a US official on Thursday.

The official added: “Discussions are ongoing about the possibility of replacing the Truman with another aircraft carrier to maintain two carriers in the region.”

He told Al Jazeera that Pentagon leaders had discussed with President Trump the potential civilian consequences of bombing the Ras Isa port. The official acknowledged that the Trump administration ultimately decided to strike the Ras Isa oil facility to make “Houthis” pay the price” for their attacks.

The official admitted that US forces are aware of civilian casualties in Yemen as a result of American airstrikes.

He also indicated that the downing of US military reconnaissance drones by “Houthis” will not deter Washington from continuing espionage operations in Yemen.
