Severe electricity crisis hits Aden

Aden, April 15 (YPA) – A severe electricity crisis hits Aden city, with outages exceeding 7 hours per day, increasing the suffering of residents with the onset of the summer season and temperatures rising to record levels.

Informed sources reported that the power outages are caused by a severe shortage of fuel for generating stations, in addition to neglecting regular maintenance, threatening the collapse of the entire electrical system.

The sources revealed that the Warsila 2 station in Mansoura district is at risk of stopping operations in the coming days due to a fuel shortage.

This could deprive the public network of 50 megawatts of its generating capacity, exacerbating the crisis to unprecedented levels.

This deterioration in services is occurring amid a complete absence of the role of the Leadership Council and the government affiliated with the coalition, which resides in Riyadh, while citizens suffer from a catastrophic economic and living collapse.

Local sources expect widespread popular protests in the coming weeks, rejecting the deterioration of services and the absence of solutions, with calls to boycott electricity bills escalating, in light of the government’s inability to provide any serious measures to address the crisis.
