GAZA, April 13 (YPA) – Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, published, on Saturday, a video of Israeli captive soldier Edan Alexander, who is still in the Gaza Strip.
The three-minute-long video is not dated, although Alexander states that he has been held for 551 days, indicating it was filmed very recently.
In the video, Alexander accuses the Israeli and US governments of abandoning him and failing to secure his release.
“Every day, I see Netanyahu controls the country like a dictator,” expressing frustration over the Israeli prime minister’s authoritarian way of ruling.
He also pointed out that an opportunity for his release was recently blocked by Netanyahu.
“Three weeks ago, I heard that Hamas was ready to release me,” Alexander says in the recording. “And you refused — you left me behind.”
His message grows more emotional as he talks, saying that “everyone lied to me — my people, the Israeli government, the US administration, and the army.”
“We truly believe that we will return home as corpses. There is nothing left to say; there is no hope,” the captive says in the video.
Alexander, a US citizen, is a soldier who was stationed near the besieged Gaza Strip on the morning of October 7, 2023 when he was taken captive by Palestinian resistance fighters.
