Deadly attack on displacement camp in El Fasher, Sudan, leaves Dozens of casualties

KHARTOUM, April 13 (YPA) – A brutal attack on a displacement camp in the city of El Fasher, Sudan, has resulted in dozens of casualties, with numbers likely to rise as shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia continues.

On Saturday, the Sudanese army announced that the death toll from the ongoing RSF militia attack on a displacement camp in El Fasher, western Sudan, had risen from 25 to 74.

For the second consecutive day, the RSF militias continued their assault on the Zamzam displacement camp in El Fasher, the capital of the Darfur region, according to local sources.

In a statement, the Sudanese army reported that the Zamzam camp was targeted in two separate attacks on Friday—one from the western side, which was repelled by the army and allied forces.

It added, “In the second attack, the Rapid Support Forces militias burned down several homes and killed civilians inside the camp.”

The statement noted that the number of casualties from the RSF attack has reached 74 dead and 17 wounded as of Friday evening.
