Protest rallies staged in Tunisia, Mauritania in support of Gaza

TUNIS, April 07 (YPA) – Dozens of student in Tunisia and Mauritania staged on Monday protest rallies in response to the calls of a general mobilization Hamas launched for in protest against the Israeli massacres in Gaza.

In a rally, the protesters in Tunisia raised banners and chanted slogans praising to the Al-Qassam battalions in facing the Israeli aggression.

On the other hand, Mauritania witnessed a general strike in the same day in public and private institutions in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who have been suffering from an escalation in the genocide perpetrated by Israeli occupation for more than a year.

Hundreds of people rallied in front of the US embassy in Nouakchott, coinciding with the strike, to express their rejection of US support for Israel in its aggression against Gaza.

The strike was organized in response to a call that Mauritanian civil society organizations and labor unions made. More than 60 civil society organizations and labor unions announced their participation in the strike and called on their members to participate actively.

Among the organizations and unions that announced their participation in the strike was the National Corps of Mauritanian Doctors, the largest medical union in the country.

The National Order of Mauritanian Lawyers and all education and health unions also participated in the strike.
