Israeli occupation forces tighten grip on Gaza, blocking aid, fuel for 12 days

GAZA, March 13 (YPA) -Israeli occupation forces continue to tighten their grip on the Gaza Strip by closing the crossings and preventing the entry of aid to the population, exacerbating their already dire humanitarian conditions.

This has prompted international organizations to warn of impending famine and a shortage of drinkable water.

For 12 days, the occupation forces have been blocking food, fuel, medicine, and other essential humanitarian supplies from reaching the over two million residents of Gaza.

“Israel” has also cut electricity to the desalination plant in the region, depriving Gaza’s residents of water.

Additionally, the shortage of fuel and diesel has led to the closure of bakeries, forcing residents to return to using wood for cooking.

For his part, Hamas spokesperson Abdel-Latif al-Qanou confirmed that Gaza residents are suffering under a siege for the second week, as the occupation prevents the entry of food, medicine and fuel in a new act of starvation.

“If the international community does not assume its responsibilities towards the Gaza Strip, its residents will face famine again during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said in his latest remarks

He called on mediators to exert more pressure on the occupation to open the crossings, allow the flow of aid and stop collective punishment.
