Israel occupation continues its aggression on Tulkarm for 41st day

WEST BANK, March 08 (YPA) – The Israeli aggression on the northern West Bank province of Tulkarm has entered its 41st consecutive day, resulting so far in massive house demolitions, widespread destruction, and mass displacement of Palestinians.

According to Palestinian sources, the Israeli occupation forces have deployed additional military reinforcements towards the city and its refugee camps on Saturday, with sounds of gunfire and stun grenades being heard intermittently.

In the Tulkarm refugee camp, Israeli occupation forces have maintained their presence in the area, blocking anyone from entering the camp while shooting live ammunition at those trying to approach. Almost the entire population of the camp have been displaced since the beginning of the assault.

According to witnesses, the camp has been turned into an almost deserted zone, with only a few families remaining in certain alleys near the entrances.

The destruction of infrastructure, homes, and businesses has been extensive, with many buildings demolished, damaged, or set on fire, while some of the remaining houses have been converted into military outposts.

In Nour Shams refugee camp, eyewitnesses reported that Israeli soldiers have installed surveillance cameras on the rooftops of homes they have seized and converted into military barracks.

Meanwhile, the camp is witnessing widespread destruction of infrastructure, with many homes either completely demolished or severely damaged. Remaining structures have been repurposed as military outposts, with explosions frequently heard throughout the area.

Palestinian sources reported that Israeli occupation forces launched flare bombs after midnight over the Maslakh neighborhood in the Nur Shams refugee camp, amidst extensive search and sweep operations in the area.

In a press statement, the Popular Committee for Services in Nur Shams camp confirmed that the policy of house demolitions and forced displacement implemented by the occupation forces is part of collective punishment aimed at displacing citizens and breaking their will.

The ongoing aggression on the city and the camps has resulted in the martyrdom of 13 citizens, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant, in addition to the injury and arrest of dozens.

According to latest estimates, more than 9,000 residents have been forcibly displaced from the Nour Shams refugee camp, while 12,000 have been displaced from the Tulkarm refugee camp.
