TAIZ, March 07 (YPA) – Clashes broke out, on Thursday, at the eastern entrance of Taiz province, just hours after the implementation of an agreement to open the road for 24 hours between the authorities loyal to Saudi-led coalition with the Sanaa government.
Local sources in Taiz reported that the clashes led to the closure of the road again, amid fears from residents about passing through the Al-Hawban – Al-Qasr Roundabout – Al-Kamb road due to gunfire.
The sources revealed that the coalition-affiliated authorities initially withdrew their approval for an initiative to open the Al-Hawban – Al-Qasr Roundabout – Al-Kamb road for 24 hours during Ramadan for humanitarian purposes. However, they later reversed their stance and agreed to open the road due to public pressure.
As a result, the pro- coalition forces reluctantly consented to the road’s reopening, according to the sources.
The sources clarified that residents accused the pro-coalition forces of closing the road and instigating armed clashes, without considering the humanitarian situation that requires the opening of the road for the people of Taiz during Ramadan.
