UNICEF warns of unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Gaza due to Israeli restrictions on aid entry

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Mar. 05 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) described the recent restrictions imposed by Israeli occupation on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip as exacerbating the tragedy of civilians to the point of threatening an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

In a statement, the organization emphasized that preventing the entry of relief supplies, including vaccines and respirators, will have serious consequences for children in the Strip. It indicated that if medical supplies are not allowed to be provided, routine vaccination campaigns will stop completely, warning of the severe danger threatening the lives of newborns in Gaza due to this situation.

For his part, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edouard Beigbeder, expressed his concern about the impact of the restrictions imposed on the entry of aid, which were announced on Sunday, stressing that they will hinder efforts to save the lives of civilians.

Beigbeder added that it is essential to maintain the ceasefire agreement and allow the smooth flow of aid to ensure the expansion of the scope of the humanitarian response.

He explained that UNICEF was able, during the first phase of the ceasefire, to provide more vital supplies and reach a higher number of children in need.

It is noteworthy that “Netanyahu” announced on Saturday that the crossings in the Strip will be closed and prevented the entry of aid to the Strip until the Palestinian resistance in Gaza handed over all Israeli prisoners without conditions.
