SANAA, March 05 (YPA) – The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned of strong dust storms that will hit Hodeida Governorate and several other coastal and desert governorates in Yemen in the coming days, requiring urgent precautionary measures.
The FAO stated in its early warning and agricultural weather bulletin, issued on Monday, that the coastal and desert regions of Yemen will experience intense seasonal winds, increasing the likelihood of dust storms between March 1 and March 10, 2025.
The bulletin clarified that these dust storms will extend along the Red Sea coast, including the governorates of Hodeida, Taiz, Hajjah, and Lahj, as well as the desert regions of Mahra and Hadramout.
FAO noted that these weather conditions could lead to a significant decrease in visibility, an increased risk of respiratory problems and eye infections, along with disruptions to transportation.
They could also affect livestock by posing health risks, reduce soil moisture, and negatively impact agricultural activities.
