Hamas movement welcomes convening of Arab summit, appreciates its outputs

GAZA, Mar. 05 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) praised the holding of the extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo, which was dedicated to discussing the challenges surrounding the Palestinian cause, in light of the continued Israeli aggression and policies of genocide and displacement suffered by the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Quds (Jerusalem).

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Hamas expressed its appreciation for holding the summit, considering it an advanced step towards strengthening Arab and Islamic alignment with the just rights of the Palestinian people.

The movement also praised all the words of the leaders and chiefs during the summit, which clearly expressed their rejection of the occupation’s plans to displace the Palestinians and the annexation and settlement projects, stressing their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to achieve their freedom and self-determination.

Hamas appreciated the unified Arab position that rejects the displacement of the Palestinians or the liquidation of their national cause in any way, stressing that it is an honorable position and a clear message that the Nakba will not be repeated. It pointed out that this Arab cohesion enhances the ability of the Palestinian people to thwart aggressive plans and conspiracies.

The movement also welcomed the Gaza reconstruction plan approved by the summit in its final statement, calling for providing all the elements for the success of this plan. It expressed its appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in preparing for an international conference to support the reconstruction process.

Hamas affirmed its commitment to everything that serves the interests of the Palestinian people in confronting the effects of the aggression and announced its support for the formation of a community support committee to oversee the relief and reconstruction file, stressing that Gaza is an integral part of the desired Palestinian state.

The movement pointed out the importance of the occupation’s commitment to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and working on the Arab level to implement this through unified pressure that ensures the entry of humanitarian aid and the activation of the second phase of the agreement.

It also expressed its support for the call to boycott the occupation politically and commercially, considering that such steps represent a strategic path that enhances the isolation of the occupation and pressures it to comply with international and humanitarian law.

In light of the increasing Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the escalation of settlers’ incursions into its courtyards, Hamas called on Arab countries to take firm positions to confront the occupation’s violations and protect Al-Aqsa, considering it a red line that angers all Muslims around the world when it is touched.

The movement also expressed its welcome to the summit’s call to strengthen the building of Palestinian national institutions and move towards holding legislative and presidential elections as soon as possible, reflecting the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence.

Hamas concluded its statement by calling for continued Arab support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in confronting the occupation and its expansionist policies, stressing its permanent commitment to defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of the people until the achievement of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
