Guterres: Palestinian people have right to live free in their land, rule themselves

NEW YORK, Mar. 04 (YPA) – UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on Tuesday to end the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip by establishing a political framework that would lay the foundations for recovery in the region.

Guterres stressed the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to live freely on their land.

During his participation in the Arab Summit held in Cairo, Guterres referred to the extreme suffering faced by Palestinians in Gaza, explaining that the summit provides a pivotal platform to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy in the Strip.

He also drew attention to the fact that the situation in Gaza, which he described as a war of extermination, has led to unprecedented levels of destruction and killing, causing widespread shock.
