Protesters block Mocha-Aden road in protest against US forces’ arrest of four people from Dhubab

TAIZ, March 02 (YPA) – The city of Dhubab, the center of Bab al-Mandab District in Taiz Governorate, witnessed angry protests by residents against the arrest of four of the district’s sons by US forces.

The four, who work in the Coast Guard, were arrested seven months ago and taken to the US military base in Djibouti.

The protesters blocked the coastal road linking the cities of Mocha and Aden, setting fire to tires as an expression of their anger and condemnation of what they described as a “disregard” for the case of their detained relatives.

The protesters expressed their outrage at the leadership of the Coast Guard, led by Tariq Saleh and backed by the UAE, accusing it of failing to seriously follow up on the detainees’ case and demanding their immediate release.

They warned of further escalation in their protests if their demands remain unmet, stressing that they would persist until justice is achieved and their children are reunited with their families.

The protests come amid rising tensions in the region, as the district’s residents are suffering the consequences of arrests that have targeted their sons without clear charges or transparent legal procedures

The protesters called on relevant local and international authorities to intervene urgently to resolve this issue and end the suffering of the families, stressing that they will not stand idly by in the face of what they consider as a “violation” of their relatives’ rights.
