8 infants died due to cold in Gaza in 48 hours, Health Ministry calls for urgent intervention

GAZA, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza Strip has reported the death of a baby girl due to a severe cold wave, bringing the number of children killed by polar depression to seven within 48 hours.

Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, stated that the baby, Sila Abdul Qader, was less than two months old, died due to freezing.

Since the beginning of winter, the death toll among children due to cold waves has reached 15 children.

Dr. Al-Bursh attributed that to the lack of medical equipment and capabilities in hospitals in the Gaza Strip and the occupation army directly targeting of medical care equipment and devices for newborns.

He called for immediate intervention from international institutions and UN organizations to save the children of Gaza from the repercussions of the occupation’s genocidal war.

A few days ago, the Palestinian Ministry of Health warned of the dangers of the severe cold wave on newborns in light of the inability of its medical cadres to deal with the complications of the cold due to the destruction of medical facilities and equipment by the occupation.
