SOCOTRA, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The Yemeni island of Socotra, located east of the Gulf of Aden, is witnessing an escalation in tensions between the leaders of the factions loyal to the UAE due to disputes related to appointments and the distribution of influence.
According to local sources, these disputes have extended to include a number of security leaders, including the UAE-backed Socotra Security Director, Ali Al-Daksumi, and the Security Director of Qalansiyah District, Imad Ali Khamis.
The crisis between the two parties has escalated against the backdrop of new appointments and disputes related to previous interests.
The sources explained that these tensions reached their peak recently, as Khamis submitted his resignation on Tuesday after the escalation of the disputes, without revealing further details about the nature of the conflict between the two sides.
