2 people killed, 3 others injured due to violent clashes in Abyan

ABYAN, Feb. 24 (YPA) – At least two people were killed and three others were injured, on Monday, as a result of violent clashes between gunmen from Al Marm Al-Rabidi and Al Shurafa tribes in Al-Wadea district in Abyan governorate, which is under the control of the UAE-backed factions.

Local sources in the directorate reported that the clashes between the two tribes’ gunmen resulted in the death of two people and the injury of three others with varying degrees of injury, due to a dispute between young men over football, which developed into an armed confrontation in which firearms were used.

The sources explained that the clashes caused a state of panic and terror among citizens, especially women and children, amid fears of renewed confrontations, without taking any measures to contain the conflict or reduce the tension by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions.

This incident comes amid the security chaos that the directorates of Abyan governorate and other governorates are suffering from as a result of the absence of effective state authorities since the coalition took control of those areas.
