Pro-coalition government imposes new rise in fuel prices in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Feb. 22 (YPA) – The government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in the oil-rich Hadramout province imposed a new increase in diesel prices on Saturday, the second since January.

The government oil company raised the price of a liter of diesel by 200 riyals, increasing the price of a gallon to 35,000 riyals in the Hadramout valley and coast, an increase of 4,000 riyals, while a liter of petrol rose by 20 riyals, adding 400 riyals to the gallon. The move aims to increase revenues without economic reforms.

Hadramout residents expressed their shock, describing the decision as “crazy” in light of the deterioration of living conditions and the collapse of the currency.

They pointed out that these increases are linked to conflicts within the local authority, stressing that they bear the repercussions of corruption without achieving any progress in the demands announced in the middle of last year.
