LAHJ, Feb. 22 (YPA) -The health situation in Lahj province has severely deteriorated due to the widespread presence of mosquitoes, leading to an increase in mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue fever, which are spreading rapidly because of poor sanitation and stagnant water.
Health reports have indicated a noticeable increase in cases of diseases such as malaria, hepatitis, and convulsions in various areas of the governorate.
Experts attribute this increase to the proliferation of mosquitoes in residential neighborhoods and villages, due to the lack of effective programs to combat these disease-carrying insects.
Local residents confirmed that the absence of healthcare services has exacerbated the crisis, as health centers are suffering from a shortage of essential medications and medical supplies.
They explained that this shortage is hindering medical staff from providing the necessary treatment and care for patients.
Medical sources have cautioned that if the ongoing decline in health conditions persists, it could result in further deterioration and a rise in the incidence of infectious diseases in Lahj.
In light of these circumstances, residents and activists called for urgent measures to combat the spread of mosquitoes, improve healthcare services in the province, and provide essential medications and medical supplies to health centers.
