GAZA, Feb. 21 (YPA) – Al-Qassam Brigades’ spokesman, Abu Obeida, announced today, Friday, that the Brigades decided to release six Israeli prisoners tomorrow, Saturday, as part of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” prisoner exchange deal.
Abu Obeida explained in a statement that the prisoners who would be released are Elia Maimon, Yitzhak Cohen, Omar Shem Tov, Omer Finkert, Tal Shoham, Avera Mengistu, and Hisham al-Sayed.
This stage is expected to include the release of the six prisoners alive, two of whom, Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, have been held by the resistance since 2014. This comes in exchange for “Israel” releasing about 600 Palestinian prisoners, including 50 who have been sentenced to life and high sentences, and 47 of those released in the “Shalit Deal” who were re-arrested, in addition to 444 male and female prisoners who were detained during the recent aggression on Gaza.
On Thursday, the Palestinian resistance factions handed over the bodies of four Israeli soldiers to the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Bani Suhaila area east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, as part of the first phase of the exchange deal.
