Armed ambush targets pro-coalition military leaders in Mahra
MAHRA, Feb. 15 (YPA) – A convoy of military leaders loyal to the Saudi-led coalition was ambushed in the Nashtun District of Mahra province in eastern Yemen on Saturday.
Media sources reported that unknown gunmen carried out the ambush that targeted the military convoy of the head of the “Operations Authority,” Khaled Al-Ashoul, and the director of the “Military Operations Department,” Yahya Al-Aizari, affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in the pro-coalition government, while they were passing through Nashtun Road.
The attack resulted in the injury of two of their companions, according to the sources.
The sources explained that the gunmen, who were stationed on the side of the road, opened heavy fire at the convoy before fleeing, while no party has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Some believe that the perpetrators of the attack may be members of extremist groups affiliated with the coalition spread across the province, while others believe that the incident may have been planned by foreign or Saudi parties to justify their continued military presence in the region under various pretexts.
According to some analyses, this incident is considered part of a plan attributed to the United States aimed at destabilizing security and stability in Mahra, which has been witnessing widespread protests against the foreign military presence.
In the same context, Mahra tribes and local forces continue their strong opposition to foreign interventions and presence in the province, stressing the need to maintain the security and stability of the region away from regional and international conflicts.
