Mahra’s sit-in committee warns against foreign schemes targeting Yemen

MAHRA, Feb. 16 (YPA) – The head of the sit-in committee against foreign forces in Mahra province, Sheikh Ali Salem Al-Harizi, has warned of foreign plans that threaten Mahra and Yemen in general.

During an awareness meeting organized by the Youth Committee on Saturday, Al-Harizi stressed that the people of Mahra would not remain idle in the face of these threats and that all options are open to confront them.

Sheikh Al-Harizi stated that the introduction of the Saudi-affiliated Salafi “Dera Al-Watan” factions into Mahra aims to facilitate its occupation, noting that the people of the province practice peaceful rejection but are prepared for any emergency.

The spokesman for the committee, Ali Mubarak Mahamed, revealed the arrival of new American forces to Al-Ghaydah International Airport, which has been converted into a military base with Saudi funding since 2017.

Mahamed confirmed that Saudi Arabia is gathering Dera Al-Watan elements against the people of Mahra under American supervision and training to serve its interests in Yemen.

Last week, Mahra witnessed widespread protests against the militarization of the province and foreign interventions. Hundreds demonstrated in Al-Ghaydah and other districts, demanding an end to the presence of foreign forces and rejecting the Dera Al-Watan factions and accusing them of trying to destabilize the province.

Protesters emphasized their right to security and stability away from conflicts and plots that threaten the social fabric, stressing that Mahra will not surrender to external pressures and that peaceful options may not be the only ones in the future.
