New US troops arrive at Al-Ghaydah Airport in Mahra

MAHRA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – New US forces have arrived at Al-Ghaydah International Airport, which Saudi Arabia has turned  into a closed military base, coinciding with the arrival of additional forces from the ‘ “Dera Al-Watan” factions, which are supported and funded by Saudi Arabia, local sources  reported om Wednesday .

The information indicates that these reinforcements are part of a plan to tighten military control over Mahra Governorate, while expanding the US role in overseeing the training of these sectarian militias.

The Saudi and American military presence in Mahra faces widespread popular opposition, with the people of the governorate demanding withdrawal of all foreign forces, reopening of Al-Ghaydah International Airport as a civilian airport, and ending the militarization of the governorate, which is considered one of the last Yemeni areas away from direct conflict.

These actions come amid growing concerns about turning Mahra into a battleground for regional and international military influence, while the people of the governorate continue their peaceful protests calling for the expulsion of all foreign forces and externally supported militias.
