Residents in Taiz’s coastal districts protest against exclusion, marginalization

TAIZ, Feb. 07 (YPA) – The residents of the coastal districts in Taiz Governorate, which are under the control of UAE-backed factions, organized a protest to denounce the policy of exclusion and marginalization they are facing.

During the protest, sheikhs and residents of the districts of “Mocha, Mawza, Al-Wazi’iyah and Dhubab” warned of the consequences of continued violations of their rights and their exclusion from employment, treating them as second-class citizens.

Participants in the protest, which took place last Wednesday, firmly rejected the systematic policies that deprive the residents of the coastal districts of their rights, diminish their status, and exacerbate the economic collapse.

They issued a statement demanding that the “Presidential Leadership Council” and the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition halt the arbitrary decisions that undermine the rights of the residents of these districts.

The statement stressed the importance of enhancing job representation by appointing qualified individuals from these districts to senior roles in both the governorate and district administrations.

It urged the allocation of a portion of state land in Mocha to the families of soldiers who were killed in the coalition ranks in recent years, and called for an end to encroachments on citizens’ lands and properties.

The protesters demanded improvements in healthcare and education services, as well as the establishment of a university that meets the aspirations of the residents of the districts, offering specialized programs that meet their needs and interests.

They stressed that the escalation of protests would continue until all legitimate demands are met and social justice is achieved for the residents of the coast.

The protesters pointed out that these protests come in the context of a legitimate defense of their rights and identity, which they believe are being systematically marginalized.
