ADEN, Jan. 26 (YPA) -The suicide of a teacher in the city of Aden has sparked widespread indignation among citizens in the city of Aden, which is under the control of Saudi-led coalition.
Human rights activists from the city said today, Sunday, that the conditions of economic collapse and deteriorating living conditions pushed the teacher, Abdel Fattah al-Shas, to commit suicide, after he was unable to provide the most basic needs for his family.
The activists added that the teacher, Abdul-Fattah al-Shas, was found hanging in his home in the Basateen neighborhood in Aden city, and that the victim committed suicide, due to the financial pressure life and his inability to fulfill the necessary obligations of his family.
School teachers, in particular, along with all public sector employees in Aden, are enduring harsh living conditions due to the collapse of the local currency.
The average monthly salary for an employee now does not exceed 100 Saudi riyals, while the prices of food and essential goods have surged to levels that exceed the ability of citizens to meet their basic needs.
Despite the challenging living conditions faced by citizens in the coalition-controlled areas of southern and eastern Yemen, the pro-coalition government has not taken any substantial action to address the economic collapse and the devaluation of the local currency in these regions.
Meanwhile, almost every day, significant scandals involving the embezzlement of public funds and corruption by officials in the coalition-held areas are being uncovered.
