OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 26 (YPA) – The Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied West Bank confirmed that the humanitarian and security situation in the northern West Bank has seriously deteriorated in recent weeks, noting that the ongoing aggression in the region has forced Palestinian citizens to be forcibly displaced from Jenin camp almost completely.
He added that the escalation of the Israeli military occupation and the deterioration of the security situation caused a mass displacement of families, which directly affected daily life.
In this context, the UNRWA Director explained that the suspension of educational activities in UNRWA schools in the region was inevitable as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the camp.
He said this also led to the suspension of health services in the camps, due to the difficulty of accessing them.
The UNRWA Director called on the international community to move urgently to provide humanitarian support and pressure the concerned parties to reduce the escalation and provide protection for civilians in the region.
It is noteworthy that the occupation forces continue their aggression on Jenin and its camp for the sixth consecutive day, which resulted in 15 citizens were killed, dozens were injured and arrested, in addition to widespread destruction of citizens’ property and public facilities, and infrastructure, including water networks and electricity.
