Sanaa’s prisoners committee reveals details on negotiations with coalition over prisoners

SANAA, Jan. 26 (YPA) – The head of the National Committee for Prisoners in the Sanaa government, Abdulqader Al-Mortada, confirmed that the other party (the Saudi-led coalition and its local allies), especially the Islah Party in Marib, is dealing with poor selectivity when choosing prisoners.

Al-Mortada explained that “the coalition forces do not show interest in the fate of their prisoners,” pointing out that the other party is exploiting the prisoners’ file to achieve political gains, even among its various parties.

He added that the UAE authorities had arrested and kidnapped a number of Yemeni citizens, whether residing in the UAE or traveling through it, and fabricated false accusations against them.

The head of the prisoners committee stated that Sanaa does not demand the release of those arrested by Saudi Arabia due to cases related to smuggling contraband, but it is carefully investigating the conditions of those arrested inside Saudi Arabia.

He pointed out that those arrested by Saudi Arabia on charges of participating in the events are of interest to Sanaa and whom it is demanding their release.
Al-Mortada also referred to an agreement that had been reached in Muscat regarding the recovery of bodies from all fronts, which could help uncover the facts regarding the missing.

He affirmed that Sanaa would continue to make great efforts to address the issue of missing persons, expressing his hope to reach a joint agreement with the other party regarding this file.

Al-Mortada expressed his hope that the other party would respond to the release of its prisoners by Sanaa in a humane and positive spirit and take a similar step, emphasizing that the prisoners’ file is being directly followed up by Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi and the political leadership.
