Senior Sanaa leader reveals new details about war prisoners

SANAA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Political Council’s advisor and leader of Al-Rashad Al-Sufi Party, Dr. Mohammed Tahir An’am, revealed new details on Saturday about Sanaa’s individual initiative to release the coalition-deceived 153 prisoners.

Anam explained, in a post on X platform, that the prisoners released on Saturday, through a humanitarian initiative from Sanaa, were captured on the battle fronts on the border with Saudi Arabia, specifically in Wadi Abu Jabara in Saada and other areas.

He appreciated Sanaa’s individual initiative for this large number of local prisoners without an exchange deal, considering it a step to show good faith and alleviate the suffering of the prisoners, and also to encourage all parties to take the initiative to end the prisoners’ file.

The Sanaa-based prisoners’ committee announced earlier the release of 153 prisoners from the other side affiliated with the coalition, as a humanitarian initiative from Sanaa, under the directives of Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi.

Head of the Prisoners Committee in Sanaa, Abdul Qader Al-Mortada, affirmed that the initiative was the second of its kind in less than a year.

Al-Mortada noted that Sanaa had implemented a broad unilateral initiative during the month of May of last year, releasing 112 prisoners. Among these two initiatives, individual initiatives were implemented to release 270 prisoners.
