SWEDEN, Jan. 24 (YPA) – Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Tom Fletcher, said that the Israeli war on Gaza resulted in children being killed, starved, frozen to death, orphaned and separated from their families.
In his video briefing from Stockholm, Fletcher noted that conservative estimates indicated that more than 17,000 children are separated from their families in Gaza.
He continued: “Some of children died before taking their first breath with their mothers during childbirth.”
The UN official added that about 150,000 pregnant women and mothers in labor are in dire need of health services.
According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), one million children in Gaza need psychological and health support due to depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
On Thursday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said in a statement that hospitals in the Strip received the bodies of 122 martyrs in the past 24 hours, 120 of whom were recovered from under the rubble of destroyed buildings, while 306 were injured as a result of the occupation forces continuing their operations in the Strip.
