Statistics reveal losses caused by Israeli war of genocide on Gaza
GAZA, Jan. 21 (YPA) – Recent statistics have revealed the extent of the destruction inflicted by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip in 470 days of war, with initial losses exceeding $38 billion and the percentage of destruction reaching 88%.
The occupation forces dropped 100,000 tons of explosives, which led to the martyrdom of 46,960 people, 70% of whom were children and women. 14,222 were missing, and 110,725 were injured, while thousands needed rehabilitation or treatment outside the Strip.
During the war, massacres were committed against 2,092 families who lost all their members, while 4,889 families lost all their members except for one survivor. Two million people out of 2.3 million were displaced amid tragic conditions and severe shortages of food and medicine, which caused the spread of infectious diseases and malnutrition among the population.
The health sector was heavily targeted, with 34 hospitals destroyed and 80 health centers put out of service, while ambulance and civil defense crews were hampered by the loss of their personnel and the destruction of ambulances. Cemeteries and places of worship were not spared from targeting, with 19 cemeteries and 823 mosques completely destroyed.
The damage included the complete and partial destruction of 161,600 housing units, as well as hundreds of schools and universities. Thousands of students, teachers, and academics were martyred, and the press was subjected to deliberate attacks, resulting in the deaths of 205 journalists and the injury of hundreds.
The widespread destruction affected infrastructure and services despite ongoing attempts to document the crimes and humanitarian challenges facing the population.
