Taiz teachers urge pro-coalition government to adjust their salaries in dollar

TAIZ, Jan. 20 (YPA) – Teachers in Taiz city in southern Yemen organized on Sunday a large demonstration to demand the full payment of their salaries after adjusting them in foreign currency, in light of worsening living conditions and soaring prices.

The demonstrators raised banners calling on the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to act swiftly on their demands, vowing to continue the strike in schools until their full rights are granted.

These protests come at a time when the economic crisis is worsening in areas under the control of the coalition.

The present circumstances have resulted in rising inflation and a drop in the local currency’s value, significantly impacting the purchasing power of citizens, with teachers being among the hardest hit groups.
