Economic, service deterioration sparks angry protests in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Jan. 16 (YPA) – A protest rally was staged on Thursday in several cities of Mukalla and Seiyun in Saudi and Emirati factions-held Hadramout province, to denounce the economic and service deterioration.

In the rally, the protesters raised banners denouncing the catastrophic collapse of basic services and the living conditions that have led the vast majority of citizens to starvation and extreme poverty as a result of the collapse of the currency and the high prices.

The participants affirmed that Hadramout people, with all components, have rejected the methods of marginalization and collective punishment against citizens, calling on the coalition-affiliated Aden government to dismissal.

They called for establishing a mechanism for exporting crude oil and increasing Hadramout’s share of oil revenues and natural resources, in a way that meets the province’s needs and achieves comprehensive development reflecting its significant contribution to supporting the state treasury.

The protesters renewed the demands of the people of Hadramout for the necessity of supporting the agricultural and fisheries sectors, as they are a major source of income for the Hadrami community, with the establishment of controls to preserve agricultural and fisheries wealth and address the issues of fishermen and farmers.
