MAHRA, Jan. 13 (YPA) – The Yemeni province of Mahra, on the border with Oman, has been witnessing large-scale movements, indicating a potential rise in tensions between local tribes and those aligned with foreign forces backed by Saudi Arabia
A local source reported that Saudi Arabia is intensifying its provocations against the people of the province who oppose the formation of “Dera Al-Watan” armed factions, composed of extremist Salafi groups in the governorate.
The source explained that the Saudi forces stationed at Al-Ghaydah Airport, which has been transformed into a joint US-British military base, are managing the recruitment process and receiving loyalists with the aim of sowing division among the people of Mahra.
This is occurring amid a complete silence of “government and Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to Saudi-led coalition.
The source further mentioned that the tribes of Mahra are preparing for significant civil action in response to the Saudi movements and are exerting pressure to expel foreign forces from the governorate.
It was noted that the people of Mahra are determined to defend their land and will not allow any external force to divide their unity or bring the governorate into a state of security chaos.
