ABYAN, Jan. 12 (YPA) – A citizen was injured during the angry protests that broke out due to a power outage in Abyan province, southern Yemen.
Local sources in the province explained that the citizen, Muhammad Ghaleb Zaid, was injured on Saturday as a result of a protester shooting at a truck that crossed the main road that was blocked to denounce the lack of electricity in the Al-Jul area, located between the cities of Zinjbar and Ja’ar.
The injured person was immediately transferred to a hospital in Aden to receive treatment, where his condition was described as critical, the sources added.
The incident reflects the worsening economic and service crisis in the areas under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, where citizens are suffering from interruptions in basic services, especially electricity and water.
The pro-coalition government failed to provide fuel for power plants in a number of southern provinces, including Aden, Abyan, and Lahj, amid angry calls demanding the expulsion of the coalition and the leaders loyal to it.
