SANAA, Jan. 07 (YPA) – The Prime Minister of Sanaa, Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi, called on the United Nations to intensify its efforts and put pressure on the parties that link peace to their self-interests while building on the steps achieved.
This came during his meeting with the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, who is currently visiting Sanaa.
Al-Rahwi reaffirmed Sanaa’s clear position on peace and its endeavor to achieve a just peace that preserves Yemen’s security, sovereignty, independence, and unity and ends the occupation.
He pointed out that Yemen is part of the region and the world, and the time has come for its people to live in security and stability, away from external interference.
The meeting highlighted the United Nations’ role in reviving dialogue among parties, emphasizing the need to build on previous understandings and implement the agreed-upon roadmap.
The emphasis was placed on opening new destinations for travelers through Sanaa International Airport, given the ongoing challenges faced by passengers due to the current limitation of flights to a single destination, Jordan, which has forced travelers seeking medical treatment abroad to bear unnecessary additional burdens.
The UN envoy explained that his visit comes within the efforts made by the United Nations to support the peace process and build on the progress achieved in the past period. He stressed that the United Nations strongly supports any future steps that lead to achieving peace and strengthening this path.
