Demonstration in front of European Parliament in Brussels demanding release of Abu Safiya

SANAA, Jan. 07 (YPA) – A demonstration was held in front of the European Parliament in the Belgian capital, Brussels, demanding the release of the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip, Hussam Abu Safia, after his arrest by the Israeli army.

The demonstration witnessed wide participation from health sector workers, who expressed their protest against Israel’s targeting of hospitals, ambulances and medical personnel in particular.

Protesters chanted slogans accusing the European Union of “complicity” in the genocide committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, and demanding the immediate release of Abu Safia.

The demonstrators stressed the need not to remain silent about the complete destruction of the Palestinian health sector, saying: “They kill, imprison and torture our colleagues, whereas 450 health workers are in detention, and more than a thousand of our colleagues have been killed.”

“There is almost no hospital left working, and the only hospital that is still working is Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza”, they added.
