DAMASCUS, Jan.06 (YPA) – Armed militants from Islamic State (ISIS) cells launched on Monday an attack on a military post of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The media center of SDF stated that elements from ISIS cells, riding a motorcycle, targeted a military point of the SDF in the town of al-Tayyana in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor with RPG shells and machine guns.
The center did not provide more information about any casualties.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed that the number of ISIS attacks in the Syrian desert since the fall of Al-Assad regime on December 8 has reached 286.
According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 121 fatalities. They are as the following:
- 78 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
- 13 ISIS members.
- 3-30 civilians, including a child, two women and four guards of civil institutions.
