Alternative energy project aborted in Shabwa

SHABWA, Jan. 05 (YPA) – An influential person in Shabwa province, which is under the control of the Emirati-backed factions, has obstructed implementing an alternative energy project with a capacity of 53 megawatts in the city of Ataq, the province’s capital.

A local source reported that a local contractor blocked the roadway of the tankers loaded with solar panels and prevented the completion of work on the site by force of arms, amid threats to the engineers working on the project.

The sources explained that the contractor’s threats prompted the implementing agency to stop activities to preserve the safety of workers and property.

“The contractor is demanding to carry out all construction and technical works exclusively, despite not having the necessary qualifications and equipment, which hinders the completion of the project,” the sources added.
