Israeli Minister: We failed in Gaza as if we haven’t fought for 15 months

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 04 (YPA) -The former Israeli minister, Haim Ramon, confirmed that the results of the fighting in Gaza “prove the depth of the failure in the strip,” noting the inability to achieve the main objective of the war, which was to overthrow Hamas’ rule and eliminate its military capabilities

He added, “It’s as if we haven’t fought there for 15 months.”

In an article in the Israeli Maariv newspaper, Ramon pointed out that Hamas’ military strength is still operational, and its civil rule continues to extend across Gaza, despite suffering severe strikes, with the martyrdom of both Yehya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh, as well as thousands of fighters.

Ramon said that Hamas “still controls all areas where the Israeli army is not present, maintains a large military force, holds 100 prisoners, and conducts effective combat against Israeli forces.”

He also highlighted Hamas’ ability to launch rockets at “Israel,” stating, “Even this week, rockets continued to fall from Gaza, as if we hadn’t fought there for 15 months.”

Ramon emphasized that the war in Gaza “represents a resounding strategic failure,” explaining that this failure “was the result of a wrong strategic plan, and the inability of both the military leadership and political leadership to draw lessons and adopt an alternative strategic plan.”
