Aden government resorts to borrowing electricity fuel

ADEN, Jan. 04 (YPA) – The city of Aden-based Electricity Corporation, which is under the control of the coalition, has resorted to borrowing a big quantity of fuel to operate some of the city’s power plants.

Local sources said that the Corporation could, through traders, provide “3 cylinders” of diesel to resume the operation of the “Petro Masila” station after a month of forced cessation due to the lack of fuel.

The sources expected the deficit rate to decrease to about 6 hours for every two hours of electricity supply to citizens’ homes.

“If the institution fails to obtain fuel, the deficit rate will increase to more than 8 hours, after it reached 13 hours of power outage in some areas during the past two days,” they added.

This comes amid the silence of the coalition-backed Aden government and members of the “Presidential Leadership Council” residing the Saudi capital Riyadh, and the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi, without responding to any demands of the Electricity Corporation in Aden and the rest of the southern province.
