Foreign oil companies pay over $238 million annually for protection in Shabwa, Hadramout

SHABWA, Dec. 31 (YPA) – Foreign oil companies pay a staggering amounts of money to faction leaders affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition in exchange for protection in the provinces of Shabwa and Hadhramaut, well-informed sources reported.

The oil expert Abdulghani Gaghman provided details from a parliamentary report, revealing that oil companies spend over $238 million each year on security services for the protection of oil tankers.

He noted that “Calvalley” company, operating in oil sector “9,” pays $2.4 million monthly to the commander of the “First Military Region, Saleh Timas,” who is loyal to the Islah party and the commander of the “37th Armored Brigade.”

Additionally, the company pays $1.2 million monthly for the protection of oil tankers.

The report also mentioned that the Austrian company “OMV,” which holds the “S2” sector in Shabwa, pays $9.99 million monthly to the “21st Brigade” affiliated with Islah for the protection of crude oil tankers.

Furthermore, the same company pays $4.32 million to the “23rd Brigade” deployed along the Shabwa-Al Abr road, in addition to over $1 million to the leadership of the “107th Brigade” for the protection of oil tankers.
