SANAA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – The World Health Organization’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, survived on Thursday an assassination attempt at Sanaa International Airport during Israeli airstrikes on the airport.
The incident occurred as the UN plane’s assistant captain was preparing to board.
“One of the crew members of our plane was injured in the bombing of Sanaa Airport while we were preparing to board,” Ghebreyesus said in a statement, explaining that the injured person was the co-captain of the UN plane.
“We must wait for the damage to Sanaa airport to be repaired before we can leave,” Ghebreyesus added.
Ghebreyesus and the UN Resident Coordinator were preparing to leave the airport on a UN plane when the Israeli raids surprised everyone.
