DAMASCUS, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces continued on Thursday to expand outside the demilitarized zone, “the purple line,” to occupy new towns in the central sector of Quneitra Governorate in Syria.
Local residents and media sources confirmed that the forces occupied 600 square kilometers within Syrian territory in the past week, setting up military points in the countryside of Quneitra, Daraa, and Damascus. The occupation forces also established 13 military points in southern Syria.
Syrian activists and media outlets stated that Zionist soldiers and military vehicles penetrated the towns of Jabata al-Khashab, Susa, and the central sector of Quneitra.
The Syrian Observatory reported that Israeli forces demanded the handover of heavy weapons owned by the residents of Jabata al-Khashab within 48 hours.
“The occupation forces informed the residents that they are responsible for the area and are there to prevent Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham from reaching it,” the observatory added.
