SANAA, Dec. 25 (YPA) – Tens of thousands of Alawites took to the streets on Wednesday in a demonstration that toured the cities of Homs, Latakia, Tartous and Qardaha on the Syrian coast, denouncing the burning of a religious shrine in Aleppo.
The angry demonstrations came after the burning of the shrine of Sheikh Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein bin Hamdan Al-Khusseibi in Aleppo, and the killing of five civilian guards of the shrine yesterday.
According to media sources, many people were injured when members of the Military Operations Administration in Syria fired live ammunition at protesters in the city of Homs.
The Military Operations Department also announced the start of a cleaning operation in the city of Homs and the imposition of a curfew from 7 pm to 6 am.
It is worth noting that the crime of burning the shrine of the founder of the Alawite sect and killing five of the shrine’s guards came one day after extremist elements affiliated with the “Syrian Interim Government” burned the Christmas tree in the city of Al-Suqaylabiyah, which has a Christian majority.
