Spain calls for recognizing State of Palestine, ending Israeli occupation

RABAT, Dec. 22 (YPA) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged countries to recognize Palestine and work towards its full membership in the United Nations and the end of the Israeli occupation.

In statements during his participation in the meeting of the “Socialist International” conference held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, between Friday and Sunday, Sanchez stressed the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region and combining efforts to confront escalating crises, especially in Palestine.

Sanchez emphasized the need to end the Israeli occupation and enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

He also called for the end of suffering for Palestinians and the end of siege and restrictions on civilian lives.

The Socialist International, an organization of socialist and social democratic parties, aims to support democracy, reduce disparities, and enhance solidarity for peace and stability.
