Netanyahu, fearing arrest, decides not to attend celebration in Poland

OCCUPIED QUDS, Dec. 20 (YPA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided not to attend a celebration in Poland commemorating the liberation of the Auschwitz camp in January for fear of being arrested.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said on Friday, “Netanyahu will not go to Poland to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, for fear of being arrested under the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).”

On November 21, the ICC issued two international arrest warrants against Netanyahu and dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Galant on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the ongoing genocide war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

The Broadcasting Corporation quoted Polish media as saying that Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski confirmed his country’s commitment to “respecting the decisions of the ICC in The Hague.”
